San Clemente Basilica is more than a church. It was built on a 4th century church which was built on the ruins of a 1st century pagan temple. Visiting this church offers a tour through history. The altar to Mithras from the 1st century is still there under the basilica.
Trevi Fountain is the largest baroque fountain in Rome, and also an iconic Roman site. Completed in 1762 as a collaborative effort of many artists, it was built on an ancient fountain fed by the Roman aqueducts. It is considered a good place to rest and watch the people stroll by.
Villa Borghese was built by Cardinal Borghese to house his immense art collection. It is in the Borghese garden park and filled with great art. Reservations are required, and it is often booked days in advance, but it is worth the wait.
